Page-by-page changes and engineering
The detailed work list: every page, what to change and why, and the engineering fixes behind the booking and tracking.
// part g
Part G: Change register
Each row gives the page, verdict, exact action and reason. 64 of 91 rows refer to G.2 for the change. The order of work is in the "What to do, in order" section of the Executive Summary.
G.1 Verdict for every page in the new sitemap (91 pages)
Source: the review of all 91 pages against Google's documentation (Part E). Confirm merge and redirect targets with Search Console data before they ship. Scope: the table covers the 91 URLs in the new site's sitemap. 13 more tenant pages under /marketplace/ (for example /marketplace/megabucks-gaming/) return HTTP 200 (page loads) on both sites but are in no sitemap, so they are not rated one by one. All 13 already send noindex, follow on both sites, so keeping them out of the sitemap is correct. Treat them like the 6 tenant pages below: merge them into /marketplace/.
| Page | Verdict | Exact action | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
/ |
Remove or redirect | Remove the page and 301 (permanent redirect) /3-destinations-with-the-least-covid-restrictions-that-americans-can-travel-to-without-a-passport/ to /best-usvi-island-for-first-time-visitors/. | A 2021 COVID-rules post; the content reads as out of date. Redirect (301) to /best-usvi-island-for-first-time-visitors/ or retire it. |
/ |
Remove or redirect | Remove the page and 301 /best-caribbean-luxury-hotels-resorts-for-families-or-adults/ to /best-hotels-on-st-john-u-s-virgin-islands/. | Remove/redirect (301 to /best-hotels-on-st-john-u-s-virgin-islands/ or /suites/). It names at least 3 resorts on other islands, and contains leftover placeholder text. |
/ |
Remove or redirect | Remove the page and 301 it to /blog/, and remove it from the sitemap. | Remove/redirect |
/ |
Remove or redirect | Remove the page and 301 it to /blog/ (posts) or the closest parent page. | Remove/redirect |

Remove or redirect | Noindex, remove from sitemap and /html-sitemap/. | Remove/redirect |
/ |
Remove or redirect | Remove the page and 301 it to /blog/ or the closest parent page. | Remove/redirect (or rewrite around where to eat it on St. John). |
/ |
Remove or redirect | Remove the page and 301 /what-is-the-best-winter-island-travel-spot-virgin-islands-puerto-rico-or-cayman-islands/ to /why-book-a-usvi-suite-in-winter/. | Remove/redirect to /why-book-a-usvi-suite-in-winter/. The page is a 2021 COVID-era comparison with outdated health rules. |
/ |
Merge | Move any unique content to /10-of-the-best-water-activities-in-the-usvi/, then 301 /best-water-activities-usvi/ to /10-of-the-best-water-activities-in-the-usvi/. | Merge into /10-of-the-best-water-activities-in-the-usvi/ (301), keeping only the verified items. Same topic (water activities in the USVI), same hero image (water-activities-usvi-scaled.jpg), thinner, and some advice reads as doubtful in this review. |
/ |
Merge | Move any unique content to /blog/, then 301 /category/blog/ to /blog/. | Merge into /blog/ |

Merge | Redirect or noindex. | Merge into /category/blog/virgin-islands/ |

Merge | Redirect or noindex. | Merge into /category/blog/virgin-islands/ |

Merge | Move any unique content to /category/vacation-planning/, then 301 /category/blog/vacation-rentals/ to /category/vacation-planning/. | Merge into /category/vacation-planning/ |
/ |
Merge | Move any unique content to /remote-work-hotel-st-john-usvi/, then 301 /escape-the-winter-blues-wfh-in-the-usvi/ to /remote-work-hotel-st-john-usvi/. | Merge into /remote-work-hotel-st-john-usvi/ (301). Remote-work pitch that reads as generic, with a tax claim that leaves out the income tax residents pay to the territory, and no room detail. |
/ |
Merge | One form on /contact-us/ with an optional suite field; redirect /inquiry/. | Merge into /contact-us/ |

Merge | Move any unique content to /marketplace/, then 301 /marketplace/starfish-market/ to /marketplace/. | Merge into /marketplace/ |
/ |
Merge | Move any unique content to /seeing-st-john-on-a-budget/, then 301 /top-6-budget-friendly-places-in-the-usvi/ to /seeing-st-john-on-a-budget/. | Merge into /seeing-st-john-on-a-budget/ (one updated budget guide). Two posts cover the same topic: budget travel in St. John and the USVI, and this one has stale numbers. |
/ |
Merge | Move any unique content to /remote-work-hotel-st-john-usvi/, then 301 /usvi-vacation-business-professionals/ to /remote-work-hotel-st-john-usvi/. | Merge into /remote-work-hotel-st-john-usvi/ (301 after moving any useful lines). It targets "business travel", but the text reads as generic vacation wellness copy with a false flight claim. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Subject is St. John. Some "best" claims cite TripAdvisor. Other "best" claims cite no source. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Each of the 10 trail entries links to an AllTrails trail page; 4 of 10 trails are off-island. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Copy that names all three USVI islands, and covers the same topic as /best-water-activities-usvi/ with little shared text. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve (rewrite the facts before anything else). Safety topic, and the page contains false and contradictory statements. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Useful idea (remote work, with the hotel's own Papaya/Marketplace detail), but 6 of 8 spots are named off St. John, and some links are dead. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Facts that name their sources (Trunk Bay #1 in 2024 checks out; NPS fee, sunscreen rule), but in this review it reads as a summary of other sites. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. A drinks explainer of about 940 words with recipes; the "where to get them" part, which the description promises, is one bar. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. A hotel directory that ranks the hotel itself, with possible phone-number errors and stale awards. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve (small fixes). Named spots, skill levels, location lines, a Trunk Bay vs Waterlemon Cay comparison. Fix the links and the fee. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve and consolidate. Seasonal advice. It cites the USVI tourism site or tourism authority 8 times, and it competes with an older post on the same question. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Itineraries, but the page has a wrong link, a misspelled place in the description, and a pre-decided "winner". |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Compares the three islands; its hotel section lists four features for families. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve (light). Says "it's a suite, not a resort" and notes possible noise from the retail center, well structured. Recheck the Magens Bay link (travel.usnews.com, no response when tested), and fix the overlap. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Title promises St. John fine dining; three of its five restaurant entries list the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas as the location. |

Improve | Group by section (Suites, Things to do, Marketplace, Blog), drop /thank-you/. | See the findings in G.2. |

/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve (light). Uses the phrase “Here’s the honest part” (no daily housekeeping, "Marketplace is closer to a “suite stay” model"), but it paraphrases the hotel's own FAQ without quotation marks and attributes the no-housekeeping fact to Marketplace Suites, and gives Airbnb facts without links. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. The budget advice gives no lodging rate or total trip cost, and it links to dead pages. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. In this review, it reads as a hotel sales page, with fall rates and unsourced ratings. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Useful idea (shoulder season), but it contains a past event shown as upcoming, daytime highs of 79 to 84 °F (St. Thomas airport normals for September to November: 86.6 to 89.2 °F), and an entry price of around $125 per night for a king-bed suite. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Good search target, but dated claims, sentences that read as garbled, no sources and no link to the booking pages. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Long (2,076 words), and it links to 9 third-party business or tour sites; the post links to the hotel's own site twice: a USVI Activities category link and a closing booking link to the home page. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. In this review, the list reads as a reasonable idea. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Reads as generic copy in places; the intro says 6 hot spots, but the list has 8 entries; the guest-rating claim is unsupported. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Comparison that names St. John places, such as Cruz Bay and Marketplace Suites; the verdict is self-serving and the article body has one link, to the home page, in its closing paragraph. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. Gives dates (June 14 through July 4) and events for 2026, but now a past event with a live sales line, and it has no sources. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. The page gives four different answers and uses generic third-party weather data. |
/ |
Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. A 1,907-word page with 11 of its 16 links going to the hotel's own pages; consolidate with the holiday guide or add real winter data. |

Improve | Make the changes listed for this page in G.2. | Improve. The legacy cancellation policy starts the 50 percent fee 8 days before arrival, and the new-site policy starts it 7 days before arrival. / |
Keep as is | Make the small fixes listed for this page in G.2. | Keep the page, with the small fixes in G.2. The page includes the quote ("designed for convenience rather than panoramic island views"). It links to 11 of the 12 suite pages. |
G.2 Content changes, finding by finding (489 rows)
"What is there now" is the finding, with quotes from the live page. "Change" is the fix. "Why" names the Google requirement that the finding rests on (see Part E). Severity shows how much the finding matters; "confirmed" means it was reproduced by opening the page. "likely" means the evidence points that way. One part of the finding could not be tested.
| Page | Severity | What is there now | Change | Why (Google rule) |
|---|---|---|---|---|

High, confirmed | Nonsense Hurricane Ida passage: "In St John, specifically, John the Baptist Parish indescribable amounts of rain ... 8 out of 10 search and rescue efforts that occurred on the Virgin Islands". John the Baptist Parish is in Louisiana. | Remove. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-34 Fact-check all AI-generated content |
/ |
High, confirmed | Mandatory COVID rules shown as current: "Travelers must always wear masks when inside the airline terminals", "Everyone aged five years or older ... must submit a COVID-19 test", "Health Declaration". Fare lines are "July flight ticket prices" and "early 2022". dateModified 2025-03-12, and the text mentions early 2022 (G-24). | Update or remove the text "Travelers must always wear masks when inside the airline terminals", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
Critical, confirmed | "Chelsea Drugstore" WEBSITE link goes to https://chelseadrugstoreredhook.com/. The link redirects to kebaya4d.org, which did not load (SSL protocol error). |
Remove the link. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise; G-58 Hacked content: injected links, text or redirects |
/ |
High, confirmed | Obsolete travel rules presented as current: "From October 1, 2020 until further notice, travelers eligible to visit the Cayman Islands are...", "Fully vaccinated U.S. travelers must provide results of a negative PCR test", "currently it is 10 day" quarantine, "In this article, we will highlight... each island in 2021", "over 80% of the country fully vaccinated". The page's modified date is 2025-03-12. Some sources are dead or moved: exploregov.ky links now land on gov.ky home, and the embassy page still shows the October 1, 2020 entry rules. | Update or remove the text "From October 1, 2020 until further notice, travelers eligible to visit the Cayman Islands are...", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | "best" claims rest on third-party reviews, not the hotel's own visit: VI Body Spa "currently the top-listed spa location on Tripadvisor" and "Reviews ... have all been positive"; Reef Bay Trail "Travelers' Choice for 2023". Four images: 3 generic placeholder icons and 1 Mongoose Junction image (G-51). | Back the 'best' claim in the text "currently the top-listed spa location on Tripadvisor" with first-hand evidence or a source, or change it to a plain description. | G-116 "Best" claims need a reason and first-hand evidence; G-174 Low: "best" lists with little original content |
/ |
High, likely | Closing text names "Grapevine Salon" as a local shop; grapevinesalon.com does not resolve (see G.3). Lime Out hours "Sunday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m." and "Sunday from 5:45 p.m." meditation at Peace Hill have no date in the text. | Update or remove the text "Grapevine Salon", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | 10 of the 11 outbound links in the article body are AllTrails links, "rated number one by AllTrails users", "typically takes about an hour". Little first-hand detail: one photo, the post thumbnail of the Peace Hill ruins, and no photo of any listed trail. The entries include trailhead tips, such as the security guard requirement at the gated community for Mermaid Chair Trail, but give no walking time from Cruz Bay. | Add the hotel's own information to the borrowed material, or cut the borrowed material. | G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources; G-174 Low: "best" lists with little original content |
/ |
High, confirmed | "Lind Point Trail ... is near Leinster Bay" (the trail starts at Cruz Bay). "Reef Bay Trail ... located near Coral Bay and ... doesn't attract a lot of people". "Petroglyph Trail" (entry 7) is listed apart from Reef Bay Trail (entry 3) although the relax post says Reef Bay has the petroglyphs. | Verify with NPS (National Park Service). | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | The text names few businesses and gives no first-hand detail. Sample: "Chief among the USVI fun water activities is snorkeling." Operators are linked. The text gives no price, boat time, or guest feedback for them. | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-3 Insight beyond the obvious; G-18 First-hand expertise |
/ |
High, confirmed | Date windows: "usually from July to November" (usual season) and "June 1 to November 30" (at-risk window); "every four to six years" (hurricane or major storm) and "every 16.55 years" (major hurricane); "very slim to none" for one visit. The table lists 7 September hits. "recent devastation of Hurricane Harvey, Irma and Maria" (2017; Harvey did not hit the USVI). | Name the source for the text "usually from July to November", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Name the event each frequency counts. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | "Statistically the Virgin Islands should be affected by a hurricane by end of 2022 ... mid hurricane season 2023", plus a COVID-19 portal mention. dateModified 2025-03-12, visible date Sep 28, 2021. | Update or remove the text "Statistically the Virgin Islands should be affected by a hurricane by end of 2022 ... mid hurricane season 2023", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-24 Changing dates to look fresh |
/ |
High, confirmed | Phone "1-800-627-6610"; the site's JSON-LD and cancellation page use 1-800-727-6610. | Correct the text "1-800-627-6610", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-76 Scam and fraud: false business information |
/ |
High, confirmed | The page is dated December 9, 2021 and states Covid entry rules in the present tense. Quotes: "The only Covid rule you need to be concerned about is providing a negative antigen or NAAT Covid test", "with only around 50 active cases out of more than 104,000 people", Puerto Rico "everyone must also wear a mask". Prices "$209 nightly", "$79 per night" have no source or date. | Update or remove the text "The only Covid rule you need to be concerned about is providing a negative antigen or NAAT Covid test", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | JSON-LD dateModified is 2025-03-12 but the body says ("almost two years since the start of Covid-19"). Visible date is Dec 9, 2021 (matches datePublished). | Show a visible 'Updated' date that matches dateModified, and change dateModified only when the content changes. | G-24 Changing dates to look fresh |
/ |
High, confirmed | "Travel Screening Portal" link goes to usvitravelportal.com, which fails (redirects to usvitravelscreening.com, which fails with an SSL error). | Remove the link and keep its text, or replace it with a working URL on a trusted site. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise; G-41 Content is up to date |
/ |
High, confirmed | Title "US Virgin Islands Jobs | Marketplace Suites" contains the word "Jobs"; the page lists places to work, such as cafes and bars. | Retitle the page to match its content, for example "Places to Work Remotely in the USVI | Marketplace Suites". | G-5 Descriptive main heading or page title; G-84 Common title issues Google rewrites |
/ |
High, confirmed | Count errors: intro says "our top 9 picks", the heading says "Top 8", the list has 8. Item 3 is headed "3. Greenhouse" (double space) and item 8 is "Papaya Bookstore" while the TripAdvisor link is "Papaya_Cafe". | Correct the text "our top 9 picks", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content |
/ |
High, confirmed | Dead links: asianrestaurantvi.com/internet.php and /restaurant.php (404), connectionsstjohn.com/services.htm (404), thegreenhouserestaurant.com 2022-12-06 PDF (404 when tested). The Facebook links return 400 to scripts (not checked in a browser). | Update or remove the text named in the finding, and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise |
/ |
High, confirmed | 9 of 29 paragraphs of 100 characters or more credit a third party ("According to the National Park Service", "Visit USVI states"). The four article photos show beaches or gear, not the hotel. The text gives no walking or drive time from the suites to a beach, and names no staff pick. Reader cannot tell anyone visited. | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-18 First-hand expertise; G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources |
/ |
High, confirmed | Placeholder left in live copy: "can accommodate up to (six?) people". | Fix the text "can accommodate up to (six?) people" (spelling, grammar, leftover notes or filler), then re-read the page before publishing. | G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content |
/ |
High, confirmed | The hotel's guest is on St. John, yet 5 of 6 entries are in the Bahamas, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Turks and Caicos or the Dominican Republic. The page sends the reader to resorts outside St. John. | Remove the page and 301 it to /best-hotels-on-st-john-u-s-virgin-islands/ (see G.1). | G-19 Site has a primary purpose or focus; G-17 Existing or intended audience |
/ |
High, confirmed | "our favorite hotels" but no visit or source; the only photo is one stock thumbnail with no credit on the page. Resort blurbs read as marketing copy in this review ("takes opulence and wellness vacations to a whole new level"). Unsourced claims: "kids numbering 27,026", "U.S. News ... rates the Bahamas #2", "Conde Nast's 2019 and 2020". No outbound links in the article body. | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-18 First-hand expertise; G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources |
/ |
High, confirmed | The description promises "From beachfront bars to hidden gems, find tropical drinks near Marketplace Suites", but "Where to Get Them" names one place (Lime Out, Coral Harbor). No Cruz Bay bars, no walking times. | Deliver what the title or description promises, or change the title and description to match the page. | G-23 Promising an answer that does not exist; G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic |
/ |
High, confirmed | Under H2 "Mocktails in the Virgin Islands" the H3 sections are "Rum Swizzle" and "Lime in the Coconut", both made with rum. The real mocktails ("Virgin Island Cooler") are not headed. | Correct the text "Mocktails in the Virgin Islands", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content |
/ |
High, confirmed | Link "Reef Bay Rum Factory Ruins" to nps.gov/nr/travel/prvi/pr35.htm returns 404. | Remove the link and keep its text, or replace it with a working URL on a trusted site. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise |
/ |
Low, likely | Phone numbers: The Hills, St. John entry shows "(800) 727-6610", the number The Hills publishes on its own site and that Marketplace Suites also uses. House of Open Arms shows "1-340-513-7199", its own published number, the same as The Westin. | Confirm the number on The Westin entry, since it matches House of Open Arms. | G-76 Scam and fraud: false business information; G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | Awards with no note on whether they still apply: "2017 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence", "2020 Travelers' Choice", "for all the 13 years". High, confirmed | "Top Rated" list includes the hotel with "Rated a 'Wonderful!' hotel on Expedia" and no link or date. Conflict of interest is not disclosed. | Back the 'best' claim in the text "Top Rated" with first-hand evidence or a source, or change it to a plain description. | G-165 Conflict of interest lowers trust of "reviews"; G-116 "Best" claims need a reason and first-hand evidence |

High, confirmed | 4 outbound links fail: nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/trunk-bay.htm, /leinster-bay.htm, /lind-point-trail.htm (all 404) and mahocrossroads.com. | Replace the 3 dead NPS links with their current nps.gov pages. The mahocrossroads.com link did not load when tested (see G.3). | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise; G-41 Content is up to date |

High, confirmed | On the legacy site, only 8 of 46 body paragraphs credit the USVI tourism site or the tourism authority, and 26 of 33 season paragraphs carry no tourism credit (keyword count). No hotel data: no own rate ranges by month, occupancy, or guest-visit notes. | Add the hotel's own information to the borrowed material, or cut the borrowed material. | G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources; G-1 Original information, research or analysis |
/ |
High, confirmed | Anchor "Ram Head" links to alltrails.com/.../reef-bay-trail (wrong trail). "Cinnamon Bay Nature Loop" and the other AllTrails links return 403 to scripts. One AllTrails link opened in a browser also returned 403. | Remove the link and keep its text, or replace it with a working URL on a trusted site. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise; G-96 Descriptive, concise, relevant anchor text |
/ |
High, confirmed | The pitch says "Spacious, apartment-style suites" and "Kitchenettes" but gives no sleeping capacity, bed setup, or crib policy, and all 3 hotel links go to / (none to /suites/ or a suite page). Another post says "fully equipped kitchen" (G-15, the two pages use different terms). | Expand the page so it answers what its title promises. | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-20 Reader reaches their goal |
/ |
High, confirmed | Promotion with no numbers: "at a fraction of the cost of larger resorts", "St. Croix offers the lowest prices", "St. John consistently earns the reputation as the most ... secure". Intro: "(spoiler: it probably will)". | Cut the repeated or promotional wording in the text "at a fraction of the cost of larger resorts". | G-55 Over-promotion can be seen as manipulation; G-179 Low: exaggerated claims of expertise |
/ |
High, likely | "Maho Beach" appears twice ("Cruz Bay Beach, Maho Beach and Cinnamon Bay"; "Caneel Bay, Trunk Bay and Maho Beach"). Maho Beach is on Sint Maarten; St. John has Maho Bay. | Verify and correct. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-34 Fact-check all AI-generated content |
/ |
High, likely | Advice without a working source: "climb in the pond, rub the mud on" at Salt Pond, and "Free Dive for Caribbean Spiny Lobsters" around St. John. Check the NPS rules on taking marine life before keeping either. | Correct the text "climb in the pond, rub the mud on", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | Both support links fail: windspree.com/discover-st-johns-reef-bay-petroglyphs/ (404, anchor "the ancient petroglyphs") and villanorbu.com 2018 lobster post (404, anchor "along with other rules you must follow"). | Remove the link and keep its text, or replace it with a working URL on a trusted site. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise; G-41 Content is up to date |
/ |
High, confirmed | 13 entries, each one paragraph long, with no named tour or charter operator, prices, or places to book. "Visibility of up to 100 feet" has no source. "Take Some Instagram-Worthy Pics of the Water" reads as filler (G-176). | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-3 Insight beyond the obvious; G-18 First-hand expertise |
/ |
High, confirmed | Text that names The Hills: "continue to The Hills", "Just ask any driver to take you to The Hills", "airport to villa transportation including a private taxi, a luxury car or SUV, private water transport, even a helicopter". The legacy footer lists "Related brands: Vacation VI | The Hills, St John". Marketplace Suites is a Cruz Bay hotel. | Delete or rewrite the "St. John Travel Tips" and "Transportation" sections so they describe this hotel, not The Hills. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-40 Content is unique, not copied |
/ |
High, confirmed | Internal inconsistency: "7 -30 days" in the paragraph vs "8 -30 days = 50% cancelation fee" in the list. Day 7 is the only unclear day. "31 days or more" in the paragraph and "31 days = 5%" in the list agree. | Replace the paragraph and the list with one table of cancellation periods and fees, so each day count falls in exactly one band. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | New site says the balance is due "60 days prior to your arrival date". Legacy cancellation policy says "30 days prior"; legacy suite pages say 60. The new-site home page also says 60 days before arrival; the legacy home page states no balance due date. The hotel must confirm which is correct. | Correct the text "60 days prior to your arrival date", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | All 34 posts on /category/blog/ (4 pages) also appear on /blog/ (5 pages, 42 posts). Page 1 of each lists 10 posts, and 7 of the 10 titles are the same on both pages. The h1 is the same "Marketplace Suites Blog" as /blog/. Title differs ("USVI Blog - Travel Tips & Local Insights | Marketplace Suites"). | 301 /category/blog/ to /blog/, or add noindex to it. | G-38 One URL per piece of content; G-5 Descriptive main heading or page title |

High, confirmed | One post (93 words), "When Is The Best Time To Visit US Virgin Islands?", dated May 30, 2022. Title "BVI Blog - Travel Tips & Local Insights" and description ("hidden gems, and tips on exploring this stunning Caribbean destination") promise BVI content that is not there. | Expand the page so it answers what its title promises, or merge it into the page named in its verdict (G.1). | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-23 Promising an answer that does not exist |

High, confirmed | Facts: "Continental Airlines" listed as a current carrier (merged 2012); "Seaborne Airlines operates a seaplane service" (its current status is not confirmed; Seaborne said in 2025 that it would keep flying after its parent, Silver Airways, ceased operations on June 11, 2025); CEKA is two miles west of Charlotte Amalie, not "four miles east of ... Charlotte Amalie" as this page says; "book your flight four months to three weeks before your flight ... around 5% of the airline's lowest price point" reads as meaningless. | Correct the text "Continental Airlines", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | Link "book your flight" is a cheapair.com URL with AID/PID/cjevent affiliate parameters (404, no rel="sponsored"). Also dead: covid19usvi.com/node/2861 (404), usvitravelportal.com (SSL error); "USVI Travel Advisory" now lands on visitusvi.com/weather-updates. | Remove the dead cheapair.com link (404), the dead covid19usvi.com/node/2861 link (404) and the usvitravelportal.com link; keep the text or link a working page. Mark a replacement rel="sponsored" only if it is an affiliate link. | G-62 Link spam: buying or selling links; G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise |

High, confirmed | Prices disagree with the rest of the site. Suite cards here say "From $125 / night" (Suites 1, 10, 11, 12) and "From $155 / night" (Suites 2 to 4, 6 to 9), while /suites/ and the suite pages say $175, $195 and $245, and the home page says $175 and $195. Legacy showed $160 and $180. | Take every price from one source (the live Lodgix rates) and show the dates each price applies to. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-76 Scam and fraud: false business information |
/ |
High, likely | "no state income tax in the USVI, you can keep more of your hard-earned money" and "a 90% reduction in personal income tax and corporate income tax" are presented: the first as a benefit of working from the USVI, the second as a tax break for companies based in the Virgin Islands. USVI residents pay territory taxes equal to the federal taxes they would owe in a state and the page says the breaks are for companies based in the Virgin Islands. Money advice needs a source or removal. | Correct the text "no state income tax in the USVI, you can keep more of your hard-earned money", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-26 Trust is the most important E-E-A-T aspect |

High, confirmed | Dated: "With the advent of the pandemic", "As of 2019, they now have two coworking spaces ... SEAT Caribbean ... Rise Caribbean", employer list "Aerotek, Net Transcripts, Inc. and Vheda Health" copied from a third-party blog (virtualvocations.com). | Update or remove the text "With the advent of the pandemic", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date |
/ |
High, confirmed | Nothing about the hotel for remote work: no desk, WiFi speed, long-stay rate, or distance to a coworking space. The closing block also names the hotel in its heading, "Book Your Stay with Marketplace Suites". | Expand the page so it answers what its title promises, or merge it into the page named in its verdict (G.1). | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-20 Reader reaches their goal |
/ |
High, confirmed | "What should I know when snorkeling, beaching and boating?" has no text answer, only a YouTube embed ("Caribbean Marine Etiquette PSA"). | Add the key safety points from the video as text under the question. | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content |
/ |
High, confirmed | Title "Fine Dining St John USVI" but 3 of 5 entries (Sails, Bleuwater, Alloro) are at the Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas (Great Bay), not on St. John; the same address and phone repeat 3 times. No travel time or ferry note. | Remove the three St. Thomas entries or label them as St. Thomas, and rewrite the title and H1 to match the real topic. | G-5 Descriptive main heading or page title; G-17 Existing or intended audience |
/ |
High, confirmed | The last block ("Another fantastic option for casual dining ... The Hills") is added after the closing paragraph, is casual dining in a "high-end" list, and links twice to thehillsstjohn.com (including a wedding page). If paid or a partner, use rel="sponsored". | Explain the commercial link, or mark it rel="sponsored" if it is paid. Remove it if it does not help the reader. | G-62 Link spam: buying or selling links; G-65 Link spam: advertorials and guest posts with optimized anchors |
/ |
High, likely | Hours and menu items ("Sails ... lunch daily from 11 am to 5 pm", "Alloro ... Monday to Saturday 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm", named dishes) have no date. La Tapa's own site lists "Open every night 5 to 9:30". Also "doesn't get any better" is opinion (G-116). | Update or remove the text "Sails ... lunch daily from 11 am to 5 pm", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date |
/ |
High, confirmed | The H1 promises "What You Need to Know" but there is no check-in time, no same-day cutoff, no rate example, and no cancellation terms. "Guests can often book directly online and secure instant confirmation" and "even days, or hours, before arrival" are untested claims. | Expand the page so it answers what its title promises. | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-20 Reader reaches their goal |
/ |
High, confirmed | Distances conflict with the site FAQ. Page: "Cruz Bay Beach: 10 minutes away", "10 minutes from the ferry dock". FAQ: "under a 10 minute walk to downtown ... the closest beach is accessed by a 20-30 minute hike". Kitchen: "kitchenette with a stove" here, "fully equipped kitchen" in /best-caribbean-luxury-hotels-resorts-for-families-or-adults/. | Make the walking times match the FAQ, and use the same kitchen wording on both pages. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-76 Scam and fraud: false business information |
/ |
High, confirmed | Circular sourcing on the hotel's own domain: "Marketplace Suites describes their suites as ... 'central to just about everything'", "Their site further backs up the walkability", "Marketplace Suites states that housekeeping ... is not provided". The new-site FAQ says housekeeping "can be arranged on request"; the post leaves that out. | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-1 Original information, research or analysis; G-42 Expert or experienced sources |

High, confirmed | "Cruz Bay Family Practice, Walk-In Medical Clinic. Urgent Care" links to redhookfamilypractice.com, whose title is "Patient Care | Red Hook Family Practice | St. Thomas". The linked practice also lists a Cruz Bay, St. John location and offers walk-in and urgent care, so it is not shown to be a different clinic. |

"Top 10 Stress-Free Places in the USVI" is 10 items on St. John only, and 3 read as a bar, a pie and a shop, not "places". | Make the "Morgan's Mango" entry an H3 heading, so the headings run 1 to 10. | G-39 Text easy to read and well organized; G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content |
/ |
High, confirmed | Trunk Bay fee: "a nominal $4 fee" and "Trunk Bay Beach - $4 for adults". NPS lists $5.00 per person age 16+ (nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/fees.htm, 2024 table), and the sibling post says $5. | Correct the text "a nominal $4 fee" to "a nominal $5 fee", as the NPS fees page lists $5.00 per person age 16 and up. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-41 Content is up to date |
/ |
High, confirmed | "public transportation... approximately $2 to $5 per ticket" has no source on the page. The autumn post quotes "$12 safari-taxi" for a trip to Trunk Bay. Flights "$400 to $1,200", meals "$10 to $30", "only $7" at Skinny Legs have no source or date. | Correct the text "public transportation... approximately $2 to $5 per ticket", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | Self-ranking: "Best Budget-Friendly Accommodations - Marketplace Suites ... truly the best of the budget places to stay on St. John" while the page itself puts a nice budget hotel at "closer to $180 per night". No comparison to other hotels. | Back the 'best' claim in the text "Best Budget-Friendly Accommodations - Marketplace Suites ... truly the best of the budget places to stay on St. John" with first-hand evidence or a source, or change it to a plain description. | G-116 "Best" claims need a reason and first-hand evidence; G-165 Conflict of interest lowers trust of "reviews" |

High, confirmed | History wording that needs care: "Take a few moments to reflect on everything the natives were forced to suffer" (the text calls the enslaved people "natives"). The NPS timeline that the paragraph links says 1,690 acres of sugar were planted in total in 1790-1810, so "brought forth" should read "planted in total". The page says the beach "was once owned by" a physicist; Wikipedia says a small piece of Gibney Beach land was sold to a physicist in 1957, so "once owned by" overstates it. | Correct the text "Take a few moments to reflect on everything the natives were forced to suffer" by changing "natives" to "enslaved people", and make the sugar and beach-ownership sentences match their cited sources. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors; G-30 Who: no deceptive authorship |
/ |
High, confirmed | Geography muddle in #4: after "The Baths" the trip goes to "Devil's Bay National Park", then "White Bay... Soggy Dollar Bar". The Baths and Devil's Bay are on Virgin Gorda; White Bay and the Soggy Dollar are on Jost Van Dyke. The text reads as one place. No price, no operator link beyond a TripAdvisor product page. | Correct the text "The Baths" by splitting item 4, so the Virgin Gorda stops and the Jost Van Dyke stops are separate items. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
High, confirmed | Link "The Marketplace" -> https://www.stjohnmarketplace.com/ fails with an SSL error (non-www works). "Hurricane Hole" -> arawakexp.com now lands on viecotours.com/st-john/st-john-virgin-islands-excursions. Its "Hurricane Hole Full Day Kayak & Snorkel" listing shows no picnic lunch or hours. "several reasons" goes to a UK holiday firm's blog (flavoursholidays.co.uk). | Fix or remove the stjohnmarketplace.com link, and point the other two links to pages that match their text. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise |
/ |
High, confirmed | Count conflict: title says 8, intro says "Adding these six hot spots to your itinerary". The eight shop names ("The Marketplace", "Havensight Mall", "Crown Bay Center"...) are plain paragraphs, not headings; the page has only one H1 and no content H2 or H3 (G-39). | Change "Adding these six hot spots" to "Adding these eight hot spots", and make each of the 8 shop names an H2 heading. | G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content; G-176 Low: filler ahead of helpful content |

High, confirmed | "Our guests consistently rate us between 4.5 to 5 stars on TripAdvisor and Expedia" and "one of the top-rated hotels near Cruz Bay" have no link, date or count. | Link the TripAdvisor and Expedia pages with a date and review count, or remove the rating claims. | G-12 Trust signals: sourcing, expertise, author or About page; G-124 No fake or undisclosed incentivized reviews |

High, confirmed | Link "Havensight Mall" -> http://wico-ltd.com/havensight-mall returns 404. Link "St. John Spice" points to a collection URL with ?page=3 (a pagination page, 429 to bots) instead of the shop home. | Remove the link and keep its text, or replace it with a working URL on a trusted site. | G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise |

High, confirmed | Exact duplicate title: this page and /things-to-do/ both use "Things to Do in St John USVI | Marketplace Suites". | Give each page its own title and topic, or merge them and 301 one to the other. | G-80 No repeated or boilerplate titles; G-49 Good titles: unique, clear, concise, accurate |

High, confirmed | Wrong island: "The Christiansted National Historic Site should be on your itinerary if you want to learn more about St. John's eventful past, and the Salt River Bay National Historical Park..." Both sites are on St. Croix, not in Virgin Islands National Park on St. John. | Correct the text "The Christiansted National Historic Site should be on your itinerary if you want to learn more about St. John's eventful past, and the Salt ...", or remove it if it cannot be verified. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |

High, confirmed | 2021 content not refreshed: "Kekoa - a 2020 Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice Award winner... around $150 a person"; "voted one of the best bars in America by Men's Journal" (no year). Link "Salt Island" -> bvibound.com/salt-island returns 404. "Beach Day Pass" link redirects to viecotours.com/st-john/honeymoon-beach-guided-ecohike, "kayak and snorkeling experience" redirects to a different viecotours page. | Update or remove the text "Kekoa - a 2020 Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice Award winner... around $150 a person", and check every date on the page. | G-41 Content is up to date; G-47 Link only to resources you trust; nofollow otherwise |

High, confirmed | Time-bound wording with no year. Quoted wording: meta description "Holiday rooms go fast, but Marketplace Suites still has availability" and body "Marketplace Suites in Cruz Bay still has availability" (appears 1 time; the shorter phrase "still has availability" appears 3 times in the body). Published 2025-09-22. No holiday year is named, so the season the page describes is not clear from the text. | Name the holiday year, and remove "still has availability" or show it from live availability data. | G-130 Up-to-date information; G-76 Scam and fraud: false business information |

High, confirmed | Stock photos captioned as local: alt "Four friends enjoying drinks at a restaurant in St John USVI" (file shutterstock_780298639_drinks), "A woman enjoying the ocean on a paddleboard at st john USVI" (shutterstock_1157955031_kayak), "snorkling at st john USVI" (typo). The alt claims a place the file name says is a stock image. No own photo of the hotel or a holiday scene. | Rewrite each alt to describe what the stock photo shows without claiming St. John, and fix the typo "snorkling". | G-35 The same review covers metadata and alt text; G-114 Reviews show first-hand evidence |

High, confirmed | The recipe steps repeat phrases from https://thatgirlcookshealthy.com/caribbean-potato-stuffing-virgin-islands/. These 3 phrases appear word for word on that page: "Use a folding technique to ensure the fruit and vegetables are fully incorporated", "Quickly add the bell peppers, celery and raisins", "take on a red hue". The post credits it ("courtesy of thatgirlcookshealthy.com") and pastes the bare URL as text. The text shows no test log, cook report or tasting note. | Rewrite the recipe steps in your own words, and keep the credit (G-27). | G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources; G-40 Content is unique, not copied |
/ |
High, confirmed | The recipe contradicts itself. Text says "Bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 65 minutes"; the step image alt says "Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes". Steps never say to boil the water, mix a "Healthy Vegan" and a "Traditional" ingredient list, and contain broken words ("T Then", "mined garlic"). Body calls the dish "Crucian potato salad" once. | Correct the text "Bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 65 minutes", or remove it if it cannot be verified. High, confirmed | Almost no USVI facts. Villa and resort sections have no names, prices or places. The comparison table uses "$", "$$$", "$$-$$$" instead of nightly ranges. "Resorts often provide an all-inclusive... experience" reads as a generic statement that names no place. | Add real nightly price ranges and 2 or 3 named St. John villas and resorts, with a source for each. | G-1 Original information, research or analysis; G-3 Insight beyond the obvious |
/ |
High, confirmed | Conclusion that reads as promotional. The page names criteria but no nightly rates: description "see why Marketplace Suites in St. John is the top choice", body "a suite at Marketplace Suites on St. John is the clear winner", "Suites are often far more economical than resort or villa options". The hotel's own rate (From $175 on the new site) is never shown next to a villa or resort rate. | Back the 'best' claim in the text "see why Marketplace Suites in St. John is the top choice" with first-hand evidence or a source, or change it to a plain description. | G-116 "Best" claims need a reason and first-hand evidence; G-165 Conflict of interest lowers trust of "reviews" |

High, confirmed | Title/promise mismatch. <title> "Business Travel St John USVI"; H1 "Why the USVI Makes a Great Vacation for Business Professionals"; meta description "Looking for the perfect vacation spot?" High, confirmed | The dive-site section ("There is not enough time to read about all 50 of the dive sites", "The wall full of colorful sponges and healthy corals, all the marine life such a set up will attract") reads as patched from PADI/dive-site pages (the links go there). In this review, the section reads as off-purpose for a St. John hotel (G-19). | Add the hotel's own information to the borrowed material, or cut the borrowed material. | G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources; G-68 Scaled content abuse: examples |

High, confirmed | Leftover editing text: "*(Verify if our summary below is still relevant Covid travel information, by checking our source: Travel Weekly)", the link text "Most current Cayman Islands Phased Reopening Plan" at the end of a paragraph, "Argh we home yet?", and "Key Points to Compare them All", a section that starts with COVID-rate text, then has 3 destination comparisons of 2 or 3 sentences each, then a Covid Travel paragraph with COVID statistics. | Delete the leftover note "*(Verify if our summary below is still relevant Covid travel information, by checking our source: Travel Weekly)" and the COVID-era sections, then re-read the page before publishing. | G-10 Sloppy or hastily produced content |

High, confirmed | The 2026 celebration (June 14 to July 4, 2026) is over. Title "What to Expect During St. John Carnival 2026", description "from Pan-O-Rama to the Fourth of July fireworks", and the close "Availability during Carnival week is limited, and accommodations fill quickly. Reserve your suite today... before dates sell out" give no 2027 dates. High, confirmed | The "best time" is stated four ways. (1) "The best time of the year to visit the US Virgin Islands is mid-April through June". (2) "January through May are the best times to visit". (3) "the best time to visit St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix is from January 22nd to April 15th". (4) "For St. John, Mid-December to April is considered to be the best season". The four statements do not agree. | Give one clear answer per goal (weather, price, crowds) in a short table, and remove the conflicting statements. | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-20 Reader reaches their goal |

It links to the hotel's pages and to visitusvi.com, adds no winter rates, occupancy or guest detail, and has 15 question-form H2s out of 16 content H2s. | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-1 Original information, research or analysis; G-4 Added value when drawing on other sources |

High, confirmed | Season advice conflicts with /when-is-the-best-time-to-visit-us-virgin-islands/ ("mid-April through June" best) and defines winter as "December through February" while another post says "Mid-December to April". Park share is given as "more than half of St. John's land area" (other posts say 60% and two-thirds). | Use one winter definition and one park share across the site, and cite the NPS page for the share. | G-2 Substantial, complete description of the topic; G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |

High, confirmed | "Are you actually getting the best total price when you book direct?" is never answered with numbers. No rate comparison with an OTA, no mention of the "Best Rate Guarantee" that the remote-work post cites, in the article body (the page banner has the phrase), and the description promises "fewer fees". | Back the 'best' claim in the text "Are you actually getting the best total price when you book direct?" with first-hand evidence or a source, or change it to a plain description. | G-116 "Best" claims need a reason and first-hand evidence; G-124 No fake or undisclosed incentivized reviews |

Medium, confirmed | The page says the painkiller is "one of the most popular (and most potent!) USVI cocktails", originating at the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, a British Virgin Island. Rum Swizzle is "the national drink of Bermuda". | Correct the text "The painkiller is one of the most popular (and most potent!) USVI cocktails, originating at the Soggy Dollar Bar" to say it is a British Virgin Islands drink. Use one value for the same fact across the site. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
Medium, confirmed | Recipes read as common knowledge; no bartender tip or price, and the page gives no photo credit ("Here are a few of our favorites" without naming a visit). Opening is filler ("look no further!"). | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. Cut lines that any site could write. | G-3 Insight beyond the obvious; G-18 First-hand expertise |

Medium, confirmed | Fee conflict: here "Entrance fee: $4 per adult, free for ages 16 and under"; /best-beaches-on-st-john/ (March 2026) says "$5 per person and free for children under 16". The NPS fees page lists Trunk Bay at $5.00 per person, ages 16 and up, so the $4 figure is wrong. | Correct the text "Entrance fee: $4 per adult, free for ages 16 and under" to "$5.00 per person, ages 16 and up", as the NPS fees page lists. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |
/ |
Medium, confirmed | First-hand cues exist ("Ask any local", arrival times) but none of its four article images has a caption or photo credit, and there is no date of the last visit. Claims such as "Visibility is exceptional" and turtle sightings "about as close to guaranteed as wildlife gets" read as stronger than the sources the page links to (G-179). | Add first-hand detail from the hotel: walking time from the suites, a staff tip, a price seen this season or an own photo. / |
Medium, confirmed | Template repeat: winter, summer and fall each end with a "Why ..." line, and the spring "Why ..." line is followed by 3 bullet points; the hotel is described in third person ("Marketplace Suites' inventory even highlights holiday timing"). All 11 content H2s are questions. | Rewrite the text "Why winter works especially well for Marketplace Suites:" with facts only this page has (for a suite: floor, view, size, bed layout; for a post: first-hand detail from the hotel), or merge the page (G.1). | G-33 Many AI pages without added value may be scaled content abuse; G-176 Low: filler ahead of helpful content |

A St. John hotel judging three islands, with stated criteria (high trail density, accessible reefs, a conservation-first ethos) and no source links for the comparison, for example St. Thomas ... "you'll share the marquee spots with cruise-day crowds". | Back the 'best' claim in the text "Winner: St. John, hands down." with first-hand evidence or a source, or change it to a plain description. | G-116 "Best" claims need a reason and first-hand evidence; G-165 Conflict of interest lowers trust of "reviews" |
/ |
Medium, confirmed | Seasons here: "Winter (Dec-Mar) ... Spring (Apr-Jun)"; /best-times-to-visit-usvi-for-suite-stay/ says winter Dec-Feb, spring Mar-May. Spring (Apr-Jun)", and cite the NPS page for the protected share. | G-15 No easily-verified factual errors |

G.3 Dead and unsafe outbound links (29 URLs, 28 of them on the new site)
Outbound links are links from a site to other websites. Source: a status check of all 407 outbound URLs on both sites, and the crawl that recorded which page links to each URL. Not every URL was opened again in a browser. 3 AllTrails links opened in a browser returned 403, and a visitusvi.com page timed out in a browser. URLs that returned 403 or 429 to automated requests are not listed; check a sample by hand. A 404 error means the page is missing. An SSL error means the secure connection failed. Exact change gives the fix for each row. Linked from names the pages that hold each link. Both sites means the legacy site and the new site both hold it.

G.4 Titles and meta descriptions on the new site (34 titles, 13 descriptions)
Source: the crawl of the new site. The table lists each page whose title or description needs work. The title is the page name in search results and browser tabs. The meta description is the short summary shown under the title in search results. Standard: a title of 60 characters or fewer that names the brand (Marketplace Suites) at most once; a description of up to 160 characters that is unique to its page. Proposed titles and descriptions should use only facts already on that page. A number in brackets after a proposed title or description is its character count. A character count in the Problem column is the length of the current title or description. None means no new title is proposed, because the page is merged or removed.

Icons with the placeholder alt text (59 pages). Change: on the calendar, folder and person icons, replace alt="Generic placeholder image" with alt="". Why: they are decorative, and their alt text is a placeholder (G-52). Alt text is the short description that screen readers and search engines read for an image. Pages with no og:image (36 pages). Change: add a default 1200 x 630 og:image in the base template (the code that all pages share), and a page-specific image where one exists. Why: these pages have no og:image value (N-18). The og:image is the picture that shows when a page link is shared on social media. Large image files on the new site (400 KB or more, 57 files). Source: every image URL in the src and srcset of the new pages except four Google-hosted URLs that return HTTP 404, with the size each file returned in the crawl. The src and srcset settings are the page code that names each image file. Why: each page that uses them loads these files (N-7).

G.6 Redirects for WordPress short links on the legacy site (75 pages)
Why: the legacy site answered old ?p=ID links with a redirect, which sends the visitor to another address. The ID is the WordPress item number. The new site shows the home page for these links (N-49). Change: add these lines to _redirects above any rule that matches every address. Then test 3 of the lines on a deploy preview, which is a test copy of the new site. The code 301 means a permanent redirect. The first line in the block moves the ID into a path, because matching a fixed query value is not documented for Netlify. It matches only URLs whose only query parameter is p.

// part h
Part H: Engineering findings
This part covers the code and runtime of the new site: the booking widget, the availability API, measurement of bookings, page delivery and the migration of the 77 snapshot pages. Some defects below were reproduced in the Chromium browser on the test site (marketplace-suites-site.netlify.app). Testing used read-only availability calls. One Book now click ran with requests to Lodgix cancelled. A failure case was simulated in the browser by answering /api/ldx with HTTP 500.
H.1 Summary
- The hotel's GA4 property sends hits from the Lodgix booking page when the visitor comes from the legacy site. The booking page is
lodgix.com/6283/. The hotel's Google Ads tag loads there. In one browser test, GA4 propertyG-BBJ4DZFX93sent hits with a referrer from the legacy site (marketplacesuitesusvi.com), and none with no referrer or with a referrer from the new site. The GTM containerGTM-TH793K7does not load there. - The prices on the site expire on a schedule. 555 of the 588 rate periods built into the pages have already ended. From Dec 1, 2 suites show a default price instead of the real rate. From Dec 26, 9 more do. From Jan 1, suite 5 does.
- The booking widget offers stays that Lodgix refuses, and can show a price for dates the guest has cleared. These look like small rule and timing defects in the booking step where payment is taken.
- The 77 snapshot pages (copies of old WordPress pages) need a move onto the new templates. A one-time conversion script with a before-and-after comparison of every URL is the proposed method (H-9).
H.2 Findings, ranked by impact
| ID | Finding | Reproduction | Fix | Effort |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| H-1 | The hotel's GTM container is missing on the booking page | On lodgix.com/6283/ the page loads AW-456147901, plus 3 tags whose owner is not shown (G-H63W049314, GTM-PPSVSD76, AW-842452425). GTM-TH793K7 does not load. G-BBJ4DZFX93 sent hits in one test with a referrer from the legacy site, and none with no referrer or with a referrer from the new site. The hotel's GTM container GTM-TH793K7 is not on the Lodgix page. The GTM "Book now" tag waits for the class ldx-book-now, which is on 0 new pages; a real click sent no GA4 hit. |
Add the hotel's Google tag in Lodgix (Settings > Important Settings > Bookings). Mark the Lodgix purchase event as a key event and import it into Google Ads as the primary conversion. Remove the Universal Analytics tags: the container holds 20 tags, 6 of them Universal Analytics. |
6 to 8 h, plus owner time |
| H-2 | Out-of-date "From" prices | On the new site, 14 of 91 pages embed window.msRates: the home page, /suites/ and the 12 suite pages. 555 of 588 periods have ended. The last period ends on 2026-11-30 for suites 84971 and 85021, on 2026-12-25 for 9 suites and on 2026-12-31 for suite 84817. After that, rateTonight() in /js/site.js returns the suite's default ($250, $295 or $395). On Dec 1, suites 84971 (suite 9) and 85021 (suite 3) show $295, while suites 84968 (suite 6), 84969 (suite 7), 84970 (suite 8), 84816 (suite 4) and 85020 (suite 2) show $244. |
Generate the rate table from Lodgix when the site is built, and stop the build when any suite has no rate for the next 90 days. That check fails for 12 of 12 suites on the current data. | about 4 to 6 h |
| H-3 | Calendar ignores the minimum stay | The availability response carries min_nights. The calendar ignores it: Dec 28 is offered as a start date, a 1-night stay can be picked, and a quote request is sent for a stay Lodgix refuses. |
Read min_nights from the response and disable invalid start and end dates (exact change in H.3). Test the parser against a real response first, because the public support article does not describe the field. |
about 3 to 4 h |
| H-4 | Price shown for cleared dates | Clearing the dates while a quote is loading leaves the old price and a live checkout link for dates that no longer exist. Cause: quote() in /js/suite.js returns early before ++seq, so the late answer still counts as current. |
Increment the sequence first (exact change in H.3). Cancel the request with AbortController, and add a timeout. The code sets none, so the "Checking your dates…" message stays until the request finishes or fails. |
about 2 h |
| H-5 | "Booked" when a suite is free | A 1-night search shows "2 night minimum stay required" for suites where it is the only reason given, and "Booked" only when no reason is given. With 6 guests the sticky bar says "4 suites open" while no open suite is shown, and the dataLayer holds the same count, but no GTM tag reads it. Errors come back as HTTP 200 with an error string. | Return HTTP 400 for bad input and 502 for outages. Show "this stay needs N nights" from the server's own value (Christmas needs 5, not 2). Offer the nearest open dates. | 7 to 9 h |
| H-6 | Failure reads as success | When the availability call fails, /suites/ still says "Suites open Dec 10 to Dec 12". Impossible dates such as 2027-13-45 sent directly to the function get HTTP 200 with an error message, not HTTP 400. In one browser test, the impossible dates 13/45/2027 to 14/45/2027 changed to "Suites open Feb 14 to Mar 16", and the page sent from=2027-13-45 to the function. A "disabled" Book now button still works from the keyboard and still fires book_now_click. |
Show a visible error message. Validate dates in the browser and on the server (^\d{4}-\d{2}-\d{2}$ and a real calendar date). Use the disabled attribute, not only a class. |
about 3 h (estimate) |
| H-7 | Availability is never cached | Each search took 1.3 s to 2.4 s in repeated test runs. The time varies by run. Lodgix allows 3 requests per second. | A cacheable GET endpoint with a validated cache key, a 60 to 120 s lifetime and stale-while-revalidate, plus the last good answer as a fallback (labelled stale, at most 24 h old). | 4 to 6 h |
| H-8 | Funnel events go nowhere, and cookies come before consent | No GTM trigger reads ms_search, ms_quote or book_now_click. ms_quote.value has no currency code. book_now_click.link_url takes the link's href at click time. _ga, _gid, _gcl_au and HubSpot cookies are set before any consent choice. |
Add view_item and book_click events to site.js and suite.js, GTM triggers for them, and Consent Mode v2 defaults wired to the cookie banner. Do not send begin_checkout from the site, because Lodgix sends it. |
about 7 h |
| H-9 | 77 snapshot pages still run WordPress code | Problems found in the snapshot HTML: HTML entities as literal text inside JSON-LD on 7 pages (& on 4 of them); 5 posts published between 00:00 and 02:00 UTC, whose date moves back one day if a page template converts it to St. John time; a nested <main> on 71 pages; and removing Bootstrap drops its global box-sizing, which can cause sideways scroll on pages with fixed-width elements (test every page after the change; the YouTube iframe on /faq/ has a 640 px width attribute and renders 330 px wide at 390 px). |
A one-time conversion script plus a regression check that compares old and new for every URL: status, title, description, canonical, robots, JSON-LD types, H1, word count, internal links and images. On the 77 pages, every difference between old and new is an intended change. 2 widgets need manual work: the Lodgix cards on /cruz-bay-suites-with-kitchenettes/ and the slider on /things-to-do/. |
about 26 h |
| H-10 | Booking widget accessibility | The price total has no live region. Focus does not move into the calendar. There is no arrow-key support, and Escape returns focus to the wrong field. | aria-live="polite" on the total, focus moved into the calendar on open, arrow-key navigation with a roving tabindex, and focus returned to the field that opened it. |
about 4 h |
| H-11 | Suite markup cannot qualify for rich results | All 12 suites use VacationRental markup without the required latitude and longitude. Suites 1 and 11 have fewer than 8 images. The Hotel node has no @id, and suite pages carry 2 breadcrumb lists. |
One linked graph per page: a Hotel node with @id, each suite containedInPlace that node, and coordinates supplied by the owner. |
about 2 h |
| H-12 | Third-party scripts slow the page | At 4x CPU slowdown, third-party scripts add about 2.2 s of long tasks (2.6 to 3.1 s with them, 0.6 to 0.7 s without). | Load HubSpot on first interaction, and remove the dead Universal Analytics tags (finding H-1 above). | 2 to 3 h |
| H-13 | Images and first paint | The home page images total 1.5 MB, and 12 of the 13 have no srcset (for example a 256 KB file shown at 277 px). The LCP image on /suites/ has loading="lazy". There is no preconnect to pictures.lodgix.com. |
srcset and sizes on content images; loading="eager" and fetchpriority="high" on the LCP image; <link rel="preconnect" href="https://pictures.lodgix.com">. |
about 2 h |
| H-14 | No checks before publishing (deploy) | Checks on the new site would fail on: 62 pages that link to /blog (a 301 to /blog/), 28 dead or unsafe links to other sites, the Hotel entry without @id, 28 axe region violations on the 14 rebuilt pages (a best-practice rule, counted at desktop and phone widths), and the lazy LCP image. |
Run a link check, a JSON-LD check, axe and Lighthouse on each deploy, against a baseline of known issues that may only shrink. | about 3 h |
| H-15 | No field data and no indexing check in the files reviewed | The files reviewed send no real-visitor speed data to GA4 and set up no Google indexing check. | Send LCP, INP and CLS to GA4 with the web-vitals library (3.3 KB after compression, version 6.2.3 standard build). Run a nightly Search Console check of the 91 URLs and the sitemap, which needs a service account added by the owner. |
about 4 h |
H.3 Exact changes for the booking widget
H-4, out-of-date price after clearing dates. In /js/suite.js, move the sequence increment to the first line of quote():
function quote() {
+ var mine = ++seq; // invalidate any request in flight, even if we return early
var from = inEl.value, to = outEl.value, guests = +guestsEl.value || 1;
- if (!from || !to || to <= from) { reset(); message('Pick your dates to see the full price with taxes and fees.'); return; }
+ if (!from || !to || to <= from) { box.classList.remove('ms-loading'); reset(); message('Pick your dates to see the full price with taxes and fees.'); return; }
S.save({ from: from, to: to, guests: guests });
- var mine = ++seq;
Test: pick dates, clear them while the quote is loading, and let the answer arrive. The price box must stay hidden, and the Book now link must not carry the cleared dates.
H-3, minimum stay. In /js/suite.js, keep the stay rules from the availability response:
- var days = res.results && res.results[0] && res.results[0].arrays && res.results[0].arrays.availability;
- if (!days) return;
+ var arrays = res.results && res.results[0] && res.results[0].arrays;
+ if (!arrays || !arrays.availability) return;
+ rules = parseRules(arrays); // reads min_nights per day
+ var days = arrays.availability;
Then, in canPick() in /js/site.js:
- return !booked(iso);
+ return !booked(iso) && (mode === 'out' || !opts.canStart || opts.canStart(iso));
For the check-out calendar, disable every day before check-in plus min_nights for the check-in day. Test: from Dec 28, a 2-night stay must not be offered and no quote request may be sent; a 5-night stay must be offered.
H.4 Security check before launch
/js/suite.js sends the full Lodgix URL from the browser to the site's function (calURL=https://www.lodgix.com/public-api/v2/property-multi-availabilities/?from_date=...). The function source is not available, so the host check is not known. This was not tested on the new site. Check the function source, or test a copy on a staging deploy: a request with calURL=https://example.test/ must return HTTP 400 (bad request). The safe fix is to build the Lodgix URL on the server from validated dates and drop calURL from the request.
H.5 Google free booking links
Lodgix does not appear in Google's hotel partner list (340 entries, read in a browser) or in its vacation-rental partner list. Lodgix's own pages say it lists rentals on Google through its channel manager for a 2% fee. Which Google program applies may depend on whether the property has a front desk or on-site manager. Ask Lodgix:
- Which Google partner carries its feed, and does it cover hotels or only vacation rentals?
- Does the feed send the all-in price, including taxes and mandatory fees?
- Can a booking keep the Google click ID (
gclid) for conversion import? - What is the booking window, and is the 3-requests-per-second API limit per key or per IP address?
H.6 What the owner or Lodgix must provide
- Access: the Lodgix account, admin roles in GA4 and Google Ads, the Search Console property, and the source code of the availability function.
- Lodgix account: who else uses account 6283 (three tags with no owner shown also load on the booking page); the exact data fields of the Lodgix
purchaseevent; the format ofmin_nights, a Marketplace Suites-only booking page (N-53), and the mandatory fee list (N-52). - Owner: the coordinates of the building, whether a test booking at $0 is possible, the production host, approval of the policy text (N-32), the accessible-room facts for suite 12 (N-51), and the mandatory fee list (N-52).
H.7 Limits
- At a 320 px screen width the calendar needs a sideways scroll bar. At 200% zoom the calendar fits and the Done button stays visible. Not tested: the checks in finding H-14 on a real site build; the Search Console check on the hotel's own property.
- Effort figures are estimates.
- Testing sent automated page views to the hotel's live GA4 and Google Ads accounts. Filter out the test days if the numbers look odd.
